If you gamble, you probably have superstitions.

Some superstitions are little, some are big. They draw you to, or push you away from certain machines, certain tables, certain casinos.

We stopped by The Venetian recently, ready to play craps. As we were about to buy in, we noticed the craps tables are numbered. The table number, an internal referencing system for the casino, can be seen next to the money slot. The craps table below is table number 11.

The craps tables are numbered sequentially, which leads to a dilemma. There’s a craps table numbered, and we cringe to even type it, seven.

This might get ugly.

Why is this a dilemma? Because while seven is a wonderful on the first roll of the dice (the “come out” roll), it’s bad news once a point has been established. Craps players won’t even utter “seven” at the table.

So, would you play at this table? Bad mojo?

Oh, and another thing. A pit boss told us the number seven table at The Venetian (away from the rest of the craps tables) is in pit number seven. Does that make things better or worse?

And if you think gambling superstitions are silly, then you clearly don’t gamble enough. We’ll wait while you get on that.
